Shipyard Resort is one of our smaller gated communities but makes up for it by being one of the most picturesque. Hop on any of the bike trails and take in the large live oak trees draped in Spanish Moss, pass by tranquil lagoons whose banks are home to turtles and alligators basking in the sunshine or take in the views of the manicured golf courses.
Within the Shipyard Resort you will find 1,2 & 3 bedroom villas and townhomes, plus a variety of 3, 4 & 5 bedroom homes.
The Shipyard Beach House features restrooms as well as outdoor showers for rinsing off after spending your day at the beach. Parking as well as overflow parking is available free of charge.
Shipyard is home to 27 holes of splendid golf. Built within Hilton Head Island's beautiful natural setting of majestic Carolina pine trees, this club offers golfers the challenge and beauty of a world-class golf course. Be sure to grab a great lunch at the Brickyard Pub next to the Clubhouse.
One of Tennis Magazine's '50 Greatest US Tennis Resorts' The Van Der Meer Shipyard Tennis facility has 20 courts (13 Har-Tru and 7 hard) of which 8 are lighted and 3 are indoor/lighted. Clinics or lessons are available in addition to round robins.
Shops, restaurants and activities are right outside either entrance gate. Close to the Hwy 278 entrance is The Village at Wexford with all kinds of food options as well as speciality shopping. There is also New Orleans Road with its string of shops and culinary delights. Choices abound off of every exit of the Sea Pines Circle from the Island Crossing center (home to a Publix, Walgreens, Starbucks) or Palmetto Bay Road and great restaurants like Smokehouse, Redfish and A Lowcountry Backyard, to name just a few. Then there is Hilton Head Plaza (home to the 'Barmuda Triangle') and Park Plaza off of Greenwood Drive (the entrance to Sea Pines) where you will find Harris Teeter, Park Plaza Cinemas and more dining options. And finally, Pope Avenue runs beachward off the Sea Pines circle, past the lovely Compass Rose Park and all the way down (beyond the second entrance of Shipyard) to Coligny Circle, which includes wonderful dining, shopping and activities for the whole family at places like Heritage Plaza, Circle Center and Coligny Plaza.
Centrally located Shipyard puts you close to Palmetto Bay Marina, just down Palmetto Bay Road under the Cross Island Expressway. On your way to the marina with its activities such as parasailing, fishing, jet skis rentals or taking a leisurely tour on a boat like the catamaran Pau Hana, you will also pass by the Broad Creek Boat Ramp as well as Crossings Park and Bristol Sports Arena that includes a skate park with restrooms, trails and multiple fields.
