Shelter Cove Vacation Rentals

The Shelter Cove area begins about mile marker 8 on Hwy 278 and is just off the Intracoastal Waterway. Overlooking the marsh-lined expanses of Broad Creek, Shelter Cove Harbour was designed to resemble the sunny portside villages of the Mediterranean. At its heart is Hilton Head Island's largest deepwater yacht basin: a 15.5 acre marina with 170 slips for boats up to 120 feet in length. At the center of the marina area, benignly surveying the harbour is a larger-than-life statue of King Neptune; this sculpture forms one of the world's largest working sundials. Benches are conveniently located along the promenades for relaxing or people-watching, one of the Island's favorite pastimes.

Vacation rental units in this area are within walking distance of the galleries, shops and fine & casual dining (indoors and out) that ring the harbour, and you aren't that far from the Mall at Shelter Cove or the Plaza at Shelter Cove that has more shops and restaurants. Choose from 2 or 3 bedroom units that overlook Broad Creek, the Harbour or a marsh or lagoon. Yachts and sailboats bobbing lazily at anchor provide a picturesque backdrop for daytime or evening activities. And from April to September The Palmetto Dunes Buggy is a free door-to-door shuttle to the beach, shops, and the golf courses or tennis courts in Palmetto Dunes.

You can book a fishing expedition, kayak tour, or dolphin watch tour leaving from the area marina. During June through August, there is the nightly HarbourFest, a long standing tradition of entertainment, all kinds of vendors and bouncy houses for the kids. Enjoy the family friendly sing-along music of Shannon Tanner, Monday - Friday at 6:30 and 8:00PM. Everyone on the Island should go to the Tuesday night fireworks at dusk at least once during the summer! Even if you aren't on Hilton Head during the summer, from mid-April to Memorial Day you can still enjoy Shannon Tanner at 6:30PM Tuesday - Saturday.

Hilton Head Island also has public parks and one of them is Shelter Cove Community Park that is on the Broad Creek side of The Mall and Plaza at Shelter Cove. This is the place to be for many of the festivals that take place all year long from WingFest, Italian Heritage Festival, Seafood Fest to Snow Day (yes even on Hilton Head, it is our way to show the kids why we live in the south). During the summer on Tuesday nights the popular Summer Jams coincides with the fireworks night and includes a kid zone, food, family friendly music and more; and then on Thursday there is Water Fun Day with blow-up rides, water games and concessions. When none of these activities are going on it is still a nice place for a picnic or some quiet contemplation at the Veterans Memorial as the park includes an observation deck to take amazing pictures of the Broad Creek. This park includes boardwalks over the marsh, a picnic pavilion, restrooms and even Wi-Fi.
