Tennis players can up their game at the Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center, which has 17 hard and clay courts plus another 8 at its satellite facility, and also offers clinics as well as private lessons. The complex has a large outdoor pool for guests to use that has a gazebo along with restrooms and a private boardwalk to the beach with showers to wash away the salt and sand. There is also a large deck with picnic tables, grills, benches, and swings for guests' use. Indoors is another pool, a jacuzzi, and exercise facility. Golfers can enjoy any of three designer courses which offer scenic views and test any golfer's skills. Bikes are easy to rent and a great way to enjoy the unique beauty of the Lowcountry. Also available to rent are canoes or kayaks to paddle along the 11 miles of connected lagoons winding throughout the resort. Other types of water activities are available across Highway 278 at Shelter Cove Marina and shops, galleries, and restaurants can be found along the water's edge.
