A wonderful combination of old rustic beach cottage charm with all the modern appointments and conveniences, this five bedroom, 5 1/2 bathroom North Forest Beach home is just one house from the beach and has its own beach walk. Up the front steps leads to a large wrap-around covered porch with plenty of Adirondack chairs for sitting and sipping sweet tea while watching the kids swim in the private pool with jacuzzi* below. Inside, the large open living room with old wood beams, has a wall of windows and french doors, fireplace with large flat screen TV mounted over the mantel and ample overstuffed seating. It opens to the dining area with seating for 8, and to the kitchen, with stainless steel appliances including 2 dishwashers and 2 refrigerators. The kitchen opens onto a large screened porch with a sitting area and large table for al fresco dining and a gas grill just outside. Also on the main floor is the master suite, furnished with a king-sized iron bed and including a sitting area with TV, plus a private bathroom with dual sinks, a walk-in shower, and a claw foot tub.
The second master suite has a king-sized bed, french doors leading to a private screened porch, and private bathroom with dual vanities as well as a large walk-in shower. There are three additional bedrooms on the second floor: the "Fish Room" is furnished with a queen-sized bed, antique fishing accessories, and has a private bathroom with walk-in shower, the "Tennis Room" with a queen-sized bed, twin daybed, and vintage tennis equipment, with access to a hall bath with tub/shower combination, and the "Crow's Nest", which, like a ship's cabin, has 2 sets of built-in bunk beds and is equipped with a TV and DVD player plus has a private bathroom with a tub/shower combination. There is also a large den on the second floor with a sleeper sofa plus TV with DVD player. Also included are laundry facilities and free wireless internet access.
To get around, bikes are easy to rent and there are many designated paths around the island, or just take a ride down the miles of wide beach as the waves roll in. Tennis buffs can head to Shipyard Racquet Club's Van Der Meer Tennis Center and play a match, or take a clinic. For tee times, there are three courses in Sea Pines Plantation and 27 holes at Shipyard plus several courses further up the island. The nearest marinas which offer boat rentals and water sports activities are at South Beach, Harbour Town or Palmetto Bay. Shopping, restaurants and the movies are just a short distance away at Coligny Plaza, which has over 60 shops and a variety of dining choices.
