South Forest Beach – Hilton Head Island

Located on the south end of Hilton Head, South Forest Beach has a large variety of vacation rental homes, villas and condos for visitors to enjoy. To get there is easy, just follow Pope Avenue to the Coligny Circle just being sure you are in the right lane and take the first out (or right) as you come to the circle and you will be on South Forest Beach Drive which at the end will take you to the ocean gate of Sea Pines. The area is located between Pope Avenue, Cordillo Parkway and South Forest Beach.

Most home rentals in South Forest Beach are located off of South Forest Beach Drive. Almost all have private pools and quick beach access. These lovely vacation retreats are between 3 - 6 bedrooms and can sleep between 8 and 19 people, so they are perfect for gathering friends and family alike or even for a corporate retreat.

The villas and condos in South Forest Beach offer from 1 to 3 bedrooms. Popular rental complexes in the area range from oceanfront and oceanside complexes such as Shorewood, Ocean One, Seaside Villas, Hilton Head Beach Villas and Ocean Dunes to condos just across the street that are still very walkable to the beach such as Forest Beach Villas, Continental Club, Seascape, Courtside, Ocean Breeze, Treetops and Xanadu.

South Forest Beach, as is the North Forest Beach area, is perfect if you want to park your car during your stay and forget it. You have grocery stores, restaurants and all kind of interesting shopping that can be done with a quick walk or on a bike. From Circle Center to Coligny Plaza and the Beach Market along with Heritage Plaza you could see and shop all of that and never have to go to a different part of the Island. A centerpiece of the area is the Coligny Beach Park with free beach parking on the other side of South Forest Beach (entrance off of Pope Avenue). This beautiful park has a wonderful water feature that some kids like better than the actual ocean. There are covered swings and a picnic area along with Wi-Fi access, restrooms, and outdoor showers. This beach access is probably the busiest beach area on the island so in the middle of the summer it will be crowded but it is a great people watching venue! Next to this entrance is the famous Tiki Hut bar at The Beach House (formerly the Holiday Inn) and its volleyball courts if you are feeling energetic. Further down S. Forest Beach is the Alder Lane Beach access with 24 metered parking spaces restrooms and outdoor showers. Near this area you can walk the beach and then have a tropical cocktail made with fresh fruits at Pool Bar Jim's.

Hilton Head, of course, is known for golf and you can find it close by in Shipyard or Sea Pines but if you are looking for tennis, well then the world famous Van Der Meer Tennis Center with 17 hard courts (4 covered and lit) is right off of DeAllyon Avenue in the heart of S. Forest Beach. There are also the Cordillo Tennis Courts (a Town of Hilton Head Island park) where scheduling is done through the Island Rec Center. The entrance to Sea Pines is at the end of either Cordillo Parkway or South Forest Beach Drive where there is a whole other world of activities.
